Application of lotus leaves as materials

2021/2022

I have always been curious about the commercial application of plant materials. I felt it was a pity to see the lotus leaves in my pond wither, so I began to try to see if I could process the lotus leaves into green and environmentally friendly materials for use in product manufacturing.

Experimental procedures

荷之柱 < Lotus Pillar >

By using a specific ratio of lotus leaves and lotus leaf roots, a very strong material is obtained as the supporting part of the chair.

Lotus Leaf Chair

Lotus leaf : 50 %
Rhizome : 15%
Water : 20 %(before forming)
Lotus root starch : 10 %
Baking powder : 3%
Glutinous rice flour : 2%

The surface is a waterproof film of lotus root starch paste to prevent biological materials from being destroyed by the food itself.

The lotus leaf material itself embraces light with a hint of kindness, making users feel like they are taking a nap beside a lotus pond in the late summer evening.
